It's been a long time!

Forgive me for my lazy silence! It seems that idleness breeds tiredness and laziness (but hopefully not anything like evil!) Thankfully I have some good (as well as disappointing) news! Some of you already know from facebook and such, but just to recap, we'll start with the disappointing:

I called the American School of the Hague last week because I was getting impatient waiting for them to call me for the interview I was told was going to happen. However, I was informed that while I should be getting an interview soon to get on the substitute teacher roster, the music teacher position has already been filled. I was pretty upset and disappointed, mostly because my pride was hurt that I didn't even get a chance, but also because that just means I have to keep on going with this difficult and limited search for a job. But Rene and I aren't worried- we know that God will provide in His own timing.

The good news is that I will soon be idle no longer, well, at least for the next 5 months. I had an interview last Thursday for the temporary long-term substitute music teacher position at the British School of the Netherlands, and I got the job! It's to fill in for a maternity leave, and it goes until the end of the school year, July 16. I start on February 13- yes, it's a Friday, and then we have a week off after that and resume on the 23, but the woman going on maternity leave's last day is the 12, so they've asked me to come in on the 13th! That way, I get paid through the holiday as well! It's only 4 days a week, which is nice because I'll still have a day to get things done and be able to meet with people. I'm really glad to be able to do something productive, get more teaching experience and work experience here in Holland, have a schedule, and make some money!

Sadly, I've discovered that I can watch the Australian Open tennis matches in the morning, which has now rendered my mornings useless. Thankfully the finals are this weekend and I won't have this obligation, I mean temptation, every morning! Plus, once I'm a working lady again, I clearly won't be able to lounge around and watch anything like tennis all morning!

I'm struggling with energy and tiredness, but I hope that getting back to work will help with that. But Rene and I know that I won't be able to do all the things around the house as well as I have been able to do them, and I might need his help, especially if this job requires me to do a lot of planning and correcting at home in the evenings. But of course that's life for the rest of the world so I'd better just get used to the way real life works!

In any case, all I have to say is, Go Andy Roddick! :)

Thanks for the update! Congrats on the job :o)

I hear you on that last paragraph...I'm interviewing at a place tomorrow and don't know how I'll manage my time with a part-time job and part-time school -- how pathetic! Haha...

Miss you!
