Since Rene's birthday was last Monday (the 16th), we had a birthday party on Saturday!
We started the day off by going to a sports complex in the Hague to go-kart. The birthday boy won, but only because his darling wife gave him the fastest car in the last heat! (the wifey held her own- she was only a couple tenths off the birthday boy)
Then we had friends over for a birthday party in the evening, where I got to unveil Rene's surprise birthday cake! It took me hours to do and he won't see another one like it until his 50th birthday, but I was very proud.
Sadly, the icing melted overnight and because the balls were so heavy, they slid down and ruined the icing. But I did a quick fix just before the unveiling and it was mostly better!
And Rene was surprised, regardless of the meltiness!
