Goodbye Lauren

Another one of my closest friends here in Holland is moving back home. My friend Lauren is moving back to Canada after being in Holland for almost two years. She married Bart last summer, who is Dutch, and we met them through friends who collected all the Dutch men with North American women couples together back in the Fall of 2008.

Two weekends ago a few of us girls went away for an evening to spend some time with Lauren before she leaves. Lauren's brother-in-law lives in a small village about an hour south of Leiden named Steenbergen. He let us stay at his apartment while he went to stay with his parents for the weekend. We had a really nice time exploring the small town and some of the wooded areas nearby. It was really nice to get to spend some time together before yet another friend moves away.

Lauren and Bart move out of Leiden today to stay with Bart's parents in Hoofddorp until she flies out on Saturday. Unfortunately, there were some problems with Immigration Canada, and Bart's residence permit won't come in for some time yet. We're praying for a quick reunion for them!

Nog een vriendin van mij gaat terug naar haar geboorteland. Lauren en haar Nederlandse man Bart gaan naar Canada verhuizen. Een paar vriendinnen en ik zijn een paar weekenden geleden een paar dagen weg naar een klein dorp gegaan. De zwager van Lauren woont in Steenbergen, en liet ons daar blijven om samen van wat tijd weg te genieten.

Bart en Lauren gaan vandaag naar Hoofddorp, waar zijn ouders wonen, en op zaterdag gaat Lauren alleen naar Canada. Bart kan er nog niet naartoe, want ze zijn nog steeds aan het wachten op zijn Canadese verblijfsvergunning. We hopen dat Bart snel naar Lauren toe mag!
