Yesterday I learned how to ride my bicycle (whose name is Sylvia, by the way) without hands!!
See, Rene is so good at it since he's been doing it all his life, and I see other cool Dutch people doing it, and I've been wanting to learn, but it just wasn't working! Then yesterday, we were cycling home from church with our friend Tom who informed us that HE had learned how to cycle with no hands a few days before! Well, if Tom can do it, I can too!! So I tried a couple times and, voila, there I was going with no hands! I'm still a bit tense when I do it, not at all relaxed like René, but I'll get there!
I was thinking that it must have been like when I learned how to roller skate. My parents had taken me to the roller skating rink, and I just kept falling and crying and falling some more. But then I spotted a girl just a little bit older than me (I was wearing purple corduroy osh kosh b'gosh overalls and she was wearing blue ones!) and she could roller skate! So I got up off my sore hiney and followed her across the skating floor! I guess it's just that competitive spirit in me that gets me to overcome my fear and just DO IT! :D
In elk geval (in any case), I can now cycle without using my hands!!

Hi Kim! Your blog makes me feel inspired and guilty at the same time - you are so good at keeping up! Congratulations on your marriage and good luck in Holland. You are not so far away - if you want to visit Israel I'll give you the tour. And I may just invite myself your way sometime. :)
