My first class is long over and done with! I really liked it a lot, although I have some classmates who were decidedly not happy, due to the amount of work we had on required readings and projects. I really liked my big research project, though, and I got it done early so I wasn't agonizing over it like a lot of my friends.
Oh yes! I have friends! Everyone here are really great, and I'm having a lot of fun meeting new people who live all around the world. There is a group here from New Jersey (since the program is through the College of New Jersey), but everyone else is living or teaching abroad: Indonesia, Qatar, Turkey, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam just to name a few. We joke that this is like summer camp for teachers :)
My current class is Advanced Trends in Elementary Education. We have two co-professors: one who specializes in the latest research and trends in general classroom education, and another who is a computer science dude who specializes in integrating technology into the classroom. This course is really different from the last one but I really like it too!
But we only have three more days left! The classes are all 8 days long (can you believe it) and are flying by! I can't believe I'm almost 2/3 done!
Here are some photos from my first course.
just a small view of my classroom and professor (sitting behind the pile of books under the projector)
we always did the activities that she was teaching us to use in our classrooms, and then we'd hang them on the walls
my pride and joy: a vocabulary cartoon for the word "drastic" (my group had a little too much silly fun with this assignment)
