Mallorca Day #5 and #6

Yesterday the school organized a trip to Valldemossa and La Granja. Valldemossa is a really beautiful village nestled in the mountains where George Sand and Frederic Chopin lived one winter and had a romance.

Then we went to La Granja, a farm/manor house that originated in the Roman times. It was a completely self-sufficient manor, with the farm, orchard, fresh spring water, rope maker, dyer and weaver, apothecary, priest, teacher, blacksmith, torturer . . . you get the idea.

After my day of play, I spent the evening and all day today working on my research project on the Flood of 1953. I did however, take a "break" and went down to the beach to reread the articles I needed to prepare for class tomorrow. I was just about ready to come home when it became massively windy and dark, so everyone scurried off the beach. I made it back to the apartment without getting wet, but when I got there, all my papers (articles and stuff for class) were EVERYWHERE: in the hallway, the living room, all over my bedroom, and even in the bathroom. The wind was CRAZY!

Oh, and boy did Spain trounce Italy tonight in the Euro Cup finals. I can still hear the car horns every now and then, celebrating their grand victory!
