Today Rene and I leave for our honeymoon in Mallorca, Spain!
But first let me review the past few days!
Monday we had some friends from church over for dinner! Our first dinner party! So in the morning, Rene and I went out to do some errands, but we were quite unsuccessful in finding much of what we were looking for- I really wanted to buy a crock pot, but, alas! none were to be found, and the specialty cookingware store was closed that day. We were also looking for an adapter/converter plug (the one I need for my now-melty rice cooker), but we were unable to find that too. And so we gave up looking for the day since it was raining all morning, and we were quite wet by the afternoon.
And that brings me to my first observation: Dutch people don't mind having wet hineys.
You need to leave your bicycle outside the stores when you go in, but when it rains, your bicycle seat gets all wet, and you just have to grit your teeth and sit back on the now soaking wet seat and ride around with a wet hiney.
But anyways, we got food for the party, and then cleaned up our apartment, cooked, had a lovely time with 10 friends, cleaned and vacuumed after they had departed, and went to bed VERY tired!
Yesterday we woke up very late again (because we're still a big jet lagged and VERY tired from the night before), packed up our stuff, and then took 3 trains to get to Boxmeer, Rene's hometown.
Which brings me to observation #2: Dutch trains have garbage cans at every seat!!
Very wonderful.
And now we have spent the night at Rene's parents house, and are about to be driven to the airport in Dusseldorf, Germany, and then we'll be flying to sunny and warm Mallorca! (which is a vast difference from the cold and rainy Holland that Í've been experiencing)
Which is my third observation: You need a coat and scarf here in August.
So sad.
But things are good, and we're looking forward to relaxing and getting some much needed rest in Spain!
I'll be writing more again when we get back a week from tomorrow!!
Until then, HOUDOE!!
