Government people , , ,

I'm trying to take a Dutch course through the city of Leiden. They will pay for most of the costs, and apparently for some reason I'm required to take it (although I haven't yet figured out why, I won't complain if it means cheap lessons).

I had a meeting with a city lady before we left for the States, and I told her we'd be gone for a month. But, of course, I came back here to find two letters saying that I had appointments to meet with the organization who are running the course (the NCB) , both of which I had already missed.

After calling a whole day with no response, and leaving a message which was not returned, I finally got in touch with someone on Thursday, and made an appointment for a meeting for next Wednesday. The meeting is to discuss my level, what class I will take, when it meets, and where it meets.

The funniest (and most frustrating) part of the story came yesterday evening, when I got a letter from the NCB saying that my classes start on Monday the 24 of August, same days, same time, same place, and that I'd better be there! But I've never taken any classes with them, so I don't know when or where my class is on Monday!

And of course everyone was gone by the time I got the letter so I had to leave a message saying I was really confused, and they need to call me back.

Not that I expect them to . . .
