Cynthia!

Last week my friend Cynthia came to visit for a few days! We worked together at Columbia Prep in NYC, but now she is a freelance violinist. She was in Salzberg for the music festival, and the stopped by Holland to visit us on her way back to the States!

She came last Monday evening, and on Tuesday we went to Amsterdam, where we took a boat tour through the canals, saw some cute little shops (including one just for toothbrushes!), and went to the Anne Frank House. I had never been, and Rene neither (he came to join us after work), and it was very interesting. It was very well done as a museum, and I want to say that I enjoyed it, but only about as much as you can enjoy reading about people being persecuted and murdered . . . so enjoy isn't the word I'm looking for . . .

Wednesday we walked through the market here in Leiden, rented a rowboat and rowed through the canals in Leiden, and got pannekoeken (Dutch pancakes) for dinner!

Then I brought her back to the airport Thursday morning for her flight back to the States. It was SOOOOO good to see her, and fun to show her around Leiden. It is really very beautiful here!!

I don't have any pictures, though, because she took them all!!
